Overview-ABC-10-Day Trekking
Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek is for those who want to enjoy the natural and cultural aspects of the Annapurna region in a short period of time. This trek takes you into the silent natural forests, lush green farmlands, and ethnic villages situated on the foothills of the massive Annapurna range. The trek provides you the most amazing views of snow-capped peaks, which when combined with the magnificent sunrise from Poon Hill, is guaranteed to leave you speechless.
Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) Trek begins with a pleasant drive to Pokhara. From Pokhara, you take a short drive to Nayapul from where you start to do the actual walking. The trail passes along the Modi Khola and takes you through terraced farms, rhododendron forests, and traditional Gurung and Magar villages. You can witness the fascinating local culture and the heart-warming hospitality of the local people. Walking on many flag-stone steps through lush forests, the trail takes you to the base of Poon Hill—Ghorepani. Afterward, you take an early morning hike to Poon Hill from where you can get the most amazing view of the sunrise and its effect on the picturesque snow-capped mountains, including the Annapurna range and the Dhaulagiri range. As the trail descends, you enter a densely forested area dotted with picture-perfect settlements. Jhinu is one of the most enjoyable places among the many villages reached en route as you can take a refreshing dip in its natural hot spring. On your way back to Pokhara, you pass through several Gurung villages as you make your way through the carefully placed flag-stone steps. This is a moderate trek with minimum difficulty and the best time for this trek is during February to May and September to December.
