Day 01 :

Arrive, Paro |2280 m| By Druk Air flight

Upon arrival in Paro, our company representative will come to welcome you at the airport. Then you will be transferred to the hotel. After tea at the hotel, you drive to the ruins of Drukgyel Dzong, an ancient fortress, and monastery built in 1647. On a clear day, you can get the views of Mt. Jomolhari (7,326 m). On the way back, you visit the Kyichu Lhakhang Monastery, which is one of the oldest temples in Tibet that is believed to have been built in the 7th century. Overnight at hotel.

Day 02 :

Paro Excursion to Taktsang Monastery

After breakfast, you take a short drive to Satsam Chorten. The trail climbs through pine forest and grove adorned with prayer flags. You take a short break at Taktsang Jakhang (cafeteria) and walk further until Taktsang Monastery. Taktsang monastery clings to a cliff, 3120 meters above the sea level on the side of upper Paro valley. Thanks to its unique location, you get to enjoy the most amazing views of surrounding majestic mountains and emerald green valleys. As legend has it, Guru Padmasambhava, who brought Buddhism to Bhutan in the seventh century, arrived here on a flying tiger. Overnight at hotel.

Day 03 :

Trek to Bumdra Monastery

Today’s adventure begins with the early morning drive to Sang Choekor. The trail gradually ascends uphill through the blue pine, rhododendron and fir forests. Then, the trail leads you to the edge of the valley. The further hike will take you to Chhoe Tse Lhakhang (temple), which is situated on the mountainside. During this hike, you can enjoy views of Paro valley in the south and the snowcapped mountains in the north. Then, cross a dense forest and enter a high meadow. You camp just under the Bumdra Monastery (Cave of Thousand Prayers) and visit it after lunch. Overnight in tented camp.

Day 04 :

Return hike from Bumdra Monastery camp via Zangto Pelri Monastery

After breakfast, you walk back into the pine and rhododendron forest on the zigzag trail. Descend for one or two hours and you can catch glimpses of the golden rooftop of the temples below. Cross the snake path across the mountainside to arrive at Zangto Pelri Monastery. Zangto Pelri Monastery is one of the tallest temples in Bhutan where you can see a huge statue of Guru Rinpoche. Then, you drive back to Thimpu in a private vehicle. Overnight at hotel.

Day 05 :

Thimphu Sightseeing

The first site for today’s visit is the National Memorial Chorten (1974), which was built in the honor of late King Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. Afterward, you visit Dupthop Lhakhang, one of the few surviving nunneries in Bhutan. Then, you visit the National Library and Painting School where you can explore

the traditional arts and paintings. You will also be visiting the Textile Museum which provides insight into Bhutan’s most distinct art form. Afterward, you visit the Folk Heritage Museum where you can witness the local culture and rural history of Bhutan. Enjoy the evening at Local Crafts Bazaar and browse through Bhutan’s traditional fine arts. Overnight at hotel.

Day 06 :

Thimphu – Punakha

Pass. You make a short stop at Dochula Pass (3,100 m) to enjoy the panoramic view of the Himalayas. After lunch at the hotel in Punakha, you go to visit the 17th-century Punakha Dzong, the winter capital of Bhutan. Next, you visit the traditional villages and observe the lives of the people in the rural area. Enjoy the Bhutanese distilled wine (Ara) and snacks, and take some rest. Overnight at hotel.
