Where is Everest Base Camp located?

Everest Base Camp (EBC) is located in the Khumbu region of Nepal at an altitude of 5,364 meters (17,598 feet) on the south side of Mount Everest. It lies inside Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The trek is moderately challenging. You don’t need technical climbing skills, but good physical fitness and stamina are required. The trail involves steep ascents, descents, and high altitude, which can be physically demanding.

The standard EBC trek takes about 12 to 14 days, depending on the itinerary and acclimatization days. The trek includes 8 days to ascend to Base Camp and 3–4 days to descend.

The best seasons are:

• Spring (March to May) – Stable weather, blooming rhododendrons, and clear mountain views.
• Autumn (September to November) – Crisp skies, excellent visibility, and pleasant temperatures.

• (If flying into Lukla, no TIMS card is needed. If trekking from Jiri or Salleri, TIMS may be required.)

Yes. Altitude sickness (AMS) can affect anyone above 2,500 meters. Acclimatization days, slow ascent, and staying hydrated help reduce the risk. Some trekkers take Diamox as a preventive measure. Guides are trained to recognize AMS symptoms.

No prior high-altitude trekking experience is required, but previous hiking or trekking experience is helpful. Physical preparation through cardio, hiking, and strength training is recommended.

You will stay in teahouses or lodges, which are basic but comfortable. Rooms usually have twin beds, shared bathrooms, and common dining areas. Higher altitudes may have limited heating and amenities.
