Mani Rimdu Festival Trek
A unique and culturally rich festival with a scenic backdrop of the mystical Himalayas: sound too good to be true? Mani Rimdu Festival Trek takes you to the lap of the Himalayas. The Mani Rimdu Festival is celebrated in the month of October or November in the Tengboche, Thame, and Chiwong monasteries of the Everest region. Mani Rimdu Festival Trek educates you on the essence of the ceremony for the welfare of the world and amazes you with the dances and rituals performed by the monks.
Mani Rimdu Festival Trek starts with your arrival in Kathmandu. A scenic flight from Kathmandu will take you to Lukla from where the trek begins. You trek through the shores of Dudh Koshi and cross several suspension bridges and make your way to Tengboche where the festival takes place. This festival is the celebration of the victory of good over evil and consists of a series of events like the Sand Mandala, The Fire Puja, Wong, and the Mask Dance by monks. During this festival, you get to pray alongside the monks and enjoy the Lamas wearing brocade gowns and painted paper-Mache masks. People from all over the world come to visit the Tengboche monastery and discover the values of the Sherpa community and understand their culture. This journey provides you an opportunity to explore the Sherpa culture and get a sacred spiritual experience. Apart from the festival, you get to enjoy the magnificent view of the stunning snowcapped mountains like Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8414m), Nuptse (7861m), Amadablam (6856m), and many others.
